Quick Tips To Consider During Freezing Conditions

Hare are some quick home tips for our clients and friends as the temperatures are expected to reach a low of 17 degrees over the next 48 hours. On average Georgia only has 36 nights in the winter that reaching freezing conditions.

#1 ~ Faucets on Exterior walls run a risk of freezing and rupturing. Consider keeping the sink cabinet doors open and let the water run at a small drip. Remember to use hot and cold controllers.

#2 ~ Pull drapes closed, except when direct sunlight is hitting them. This will reduce cool air coming in from the windows.

# 3 ~ Turn off the HVAC humidifier. One of our HVAC drain lines froze and our furnace would not turn back on. The pump for the condensation line has a cut off switch for the furnace once the tank is full with water. It’s an easy fix but not fun when its freezing in the middle of the night!
